Hello and welcome to My Geography Lessons.

My name is Steven Ericson.  My full-time job is teaching geography at an American university.  I teach human geography, which occasionally leads to collaborations between traveling and my research interests.  Outside the classroom and on the road I enjoy drinking beer at craft breweries, dining at unique local eateries, attending sporting events, and doing my best to immerse myself in local culture.

Travel can be a liberating and uplifting experience as long as people are willing to extend themselves beyond their comfort zones.  These experiences do not have to be halfway around the world.  People can have these experiences in their own town.  It is the goal of this blog to show people that whether you fly around the world or just visit a new neighborhood in your hometown that you can have a life-shaping experience.
